Bryan Buttemer founded ScanMin during 2000 to capitalise on the local opportunity of supplying and supporting the analysers. Keith Buttemer joined him early in 2001 to focus on market development and to implement the marketing strategies.
ScanMin Africa (Pty) Ltd specializes in the supply and support of on- line real-time analysers used in different mining and mineral beneficiation processes. The purpose of the analysers is to supply real time information for both process control and quality control. Typical applications would be the bulk analysis of materials such as coal and ore while it is being transported (usually on conveyer belts) either at the source, point of receipt or point of distribution.
Other applications include particle size analysis in dry material or in opaque slurries and moisture measurement in material on a conveyor belt. Real-time analysis is a relatively young concept in the well-established metallurgical engineering field and ScanMin pioneered the installation of on-line elemental analysers in iron ore and phosphate applications. ScanMin now boasts a variety of operational analysers in the field, which serve as valuable reference sites for the equipment and service supplied by the company.
Scanmin are now a global company operating in many different countries with installations in China, Russia, Australia and sub Saharan Africa.
