Machines to Mechanize Your Mine

Shaping the Future of Sustainable Mining

Showcasing at EMA2024, we proudly exhibit our latest generation of utility vehicles, spanning across several underground support functions in both an internal combustion engine and battery electric guise.

With a focal point on the migration to zero emission trackless machinery, Fermel’s range of Battery Electric Vehicles provides a solution which harmonizes to the industry’s goal for a sustainable future where economic growth is separated from environmental impact.Top of FormBottom of Form

In the case of our E-Liberator, a 159kWh battery is easily replaced for ‘quick” swap out philosophy, storing sufficient energy for an average six hours of range in a typical work cycle.

Powered by a permanent magnet synchronous reluctance traction motor, the E-Liberator delivers a nominal continuous power output of 90kW.

The E-Liberator battery pack is a pinnacle of modern engineering. Comprising 7040 cells and 880 cell modules configured into 22 total modules and 4 banks, this is 642 Nominal VDC battery pack.

The battery system is equipped with advanced safety features including state-of-charge monitoring, HVIL (High Voltage Interlock Loop), fault and error reporting and CAN Bus communication for seamless integration and control.

The Electric Liberator is designed for time efficient charging system with a charging current of 110-180 A, allowing for a full recharge in 1.5 to 2 hours using a DC fast charger.

The maximum charging voltage is 740 VDC and the vehicle supports charging capabilities ranging from 120kW to 240kW, minimizing downtime while maximizing productivity.

Additionally the battery offers an impressive operational range of 30 kilometers or 5 hours with regenerative braking capabilities supplementing the battery charge at 40A on declines to provide additional retardation for safe downhill tramming.

Our Mediator EVO20 Cassette Carrier improves logistical efficiency and ensures safe handling of materials with a key design mandate which addresses ease of maintenance.

Key components are easily accessible, reducing downtime and ensuring minimal disruption. Enhancements include lightweight composite covers, improved access to the main traction pump, and repositioned serviceable items. The Evo’20 boasts features such as kidney filtration for hydraulic fluid and an expandable onboard controller. These innovations ensure efficient power transfer and adaptive operational performance.

The Wetcreter EVO3 is an articulated vehicle which houses a holistic encompassing of on-board equipment for the turnkey application of wet shotcrete to the excavation tunnels of underground mining operations other than the supply of reticulated power via the umbilical-chord included in the scope of supply

While we have been manufacturing this type of equipment since the turn of the millennium our latest addition is packaged on the newest drive platform that includes current technology in respect of exhaust emissions, and the operating backbone of the machine being controller CAN based allowing for active machine data flow, and interaction between the machine and operator providing for varied levels of autonomous functionality

The equipment is designed and equipped for high capacity operation, up to 25 cubic metres of pumped concrete per hour, to reduce the time required for the application of secondary support to a lesser fraction of that of the complete mining cycle.

Laden with our learnings and experience gathered over decades in the design and manufacture of robotic sprayed concrete applicators has yielded a machine configured for the ‘operator’ for efficient and reliable spraying of concrete in the confines of underground mining operations
