Horona Engineering was recently awarded with ISO 9001 certification. ISO 9001 is an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS). Having been around for just over a decade, Horona’s vision has always been about the integration of communities, business, government and our combined role in South Africa’s future regarding sustainable development. Continuous improvement of our equipment and supplies, specifically the following divisions are thus expected to grow sustainably further with the help of the ISO 9001 standard acquisition:
1) Hydraulic Repairs
2) Mechanical Fabrication
3) Pneumatics
Horona Managing Director Tlotlo Phele exclaimed: “We are excited and looking positively forward to use a series of standards to which an organization in mining like ourselves can certify and benchmark ourselves with. With over 70% youth employment rate in our company, our workforce comes from skilful, well trained and experienced individuals. Coal contract mining products and services need to meet a vast number of customer and regulatory requirements. As Horona, we needed something that demonstrates consistently in the mining and engineering industry: standards that address the need of quality engineering in our communities. Engagement of people both customer and employees regarding concepts of continuous learning led to effective leadership. Thus, through effective quality management, improved social, environmental and economic quality of life is inevitable for all. For us, it’s a step in the right direction to eradicating poverty and promote qualitycontrolled business in the South African narrative. We expect continual accumulation of accreditations within the foreseeable future in underground support equipment, general engineering supplies and ceramic wear lining.
